A2SF welcomes VIRID, the Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti-based percussion and electronic music duo of Ancel Neeley and Olivia Cirisan. The group most often features Cirisan on vibraphone/vocals and Neeley on drums, though as a full band they currently play with bassist Will Kelley and woodwind-doubler Oliver Bishop. Somewhat amorphous yet always interesting, their music exists somewhere between the contemporary classical music sphere and the popular music scene. Taking an approach that blends composition, songwriting, and music production, VIRID pairs Cirisan’s ambient, textural, and cinematic songwriting with Neeley’s bright and angular storytelling.
