Retreat (Virtual): Bon Odori – Japanese Summer Dance

Thursday, June 18 @ 5pm

NOTE: This is a virtual, streamed event.

Join students from Eastern Michigan University and Minae Sawai (GEN-J Cultural Exchange Facilitator from Japan Foundation) for an introduction to the Japanese summer festival dance of Bon-Odori! Japan will be hosting the Olympic games in 2021 (extended from 2020 due to COVID-19)! There is a special Bon-Odori song for the Olympics called “Tokyo Gorin (Olympic) Ondo,” which participants will try together. Learn the basic steps as well as the basic history and culture of the Bon-Odori.

This event is part of Ann Arbor Japan Week.
