Peter Madcat Ruth’s C.A.R.Ma. Quartet
From harmonica virtuoso, Grammy winner, and festival favorite Peter “Madcat” Ruth comes a brand new project: the C.A.R.Ma. Quartet. Blending American roots music, blues, folk, and jazz, the group performs an eclectic mix of traditional and improvisational music.
A2SF is happy to welcome back this hometown hero who has lived in Ann Arbor since 1970. This new project is a thrilling blend of musicians from across the musical spectrum. In addition to Ruth, who sings as well as plays the ukulele, jaw harp, and harmonica, the group includes Grammy Award-winning tabla drummer John Churchville; bassist Brennan Andes, a founding member of The Macpodz; and guitarist/vocalist Dan Ripke, who performed with the rock-bluegrass quintet Back Forty for 15 years before taking an exploratory dive into Indian music with the band Sumkali.
With their impressive shared background across genres, the C.A.R.Ma. Quartet is sure to bring expressive, exhilarating energy to their takes on traditional standards as well as original music.
This event is free and takes place at Top of the Park located at 915 E. Washington, Ann Arbor, MI 48109. Get directions and parking details here.
