Ypsilanti-based singer/songwriter Lorian Janine lends her powerful, emotive voice to songs performed in a wide range of genres. Born in Detroit, she grew up surrounded by a family of musicians and singers. At age eight, she began playing the violin, and by her late teens added the guitar to her repertoire and began songwriting. By her sophomore year of college, she was finally ready to perform in public. Music has been a journey full of ups and downs for Janine, but she hopes that overcoming her own challenges and insecurities will inspire and empower others to do the same. This year she was awarded an Amplify Fellowship for Washtenaw County-based Black musicians. Come experience the hope, love, and grace of her music at A2SF this summer.
