Joanna & the Jaywalkers

Wednesday, June 19 @ 6pm
The O&W Acoustic Stage

When you see the tracklist for The Open Sea Before Me, its list of images surprises—The Shallows, Mermaid, Pirates, Zombie, Fingerprints—and announce a poet lyricist. Community High grad and now Ypsilanti resident Joanna Ransdell writes heartfelt original songs with a voice akin to Stevie Nicks or Patty Griffin. Her band’s experimental chamber rock is inspired by 90’s folk pop, only it boasts a cello and a stand up bass. Expect surprises like a cello-forward cover of Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros’ “Home.” Featuring Ransdell on vocals and acoustic guitar, April Hickey on vocals, Anthony Marchese on vocals and cello, Michael Seever on vocals and bass guitar, and Dylan Miller on percussion, look for them playing festivals and bars around Arbor Ypsi.
