Saturday, June 15 at 5PM | O&W Grove Stage

Genres: Soul, Funk

A2SF welcomes the soulful stylings of Ann Arbor native Jamie Register. A bassist and singer who has earned his stripes from playing in various ensembles in the past decade, Register took the poly-genre group Cloud Nine Music to new heights, including cross-country tours and multiple performances at the Telluride Jazz Festival. In 2003, Jamie began playing bass and singing with Afro-pop group NOMO, with his groovy bass lines and infectious voice helping to earn NOMO a nomination for the 2007 BBC Music Awards. He has also performed on stage with legends like the Tom-Tom Club, the Wailers, Sharon Jones, and Earth, Wind and Fire. Described as “Janis Joplin meets James Brown meets Erykah Badu meets Jim Morrison” by one Detroit newspaper, it’s clear that Register infuses all his performances with an electric energy. Don’t miss his captivating on-stage presence and soulful voice at Top of the Park.
