Heather Black Project

Friday, July 5 @ 5pm
The O&W Acoustic Stage

Developed and versatile, when the jazz singer Heather Schwartz takes the stage it’s like time slips back to the 1920’s. Honing her craft for the past twenty years, this confident vocalist and passionate performer connects with audiences easily. Her style is versatile and influenced by jazz, blues, classical, R&B, soul, and hip hop. While her formal studies were at Interlochen and University of Michigan, her personal study of Bessie Smith, Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington, Ella Fitzgerald, and Erykah Badu is evident in her artistry. Schwartz is joined by the group she formed in 2012, The Heather Black Project, which assembles a rotating cast of skilled musicians of the Detroit and Ann Arbor area for a weekly gig. Tonight enjoy Heather Schwartz on vocals, Ingrid Racine on trumpet, Michael Malis on keys, Josef Deas on upright bass, and Jesse Kramer on drums.
