Thursday, June 27 at 5:45PM | O&W Grove Stage

Genres: Jazz, R&B, Neo Soul

Hailing from Ann Arbor with ties to Detroit, bassist and vocalist Gwenyth Hayes reinvents popular soul, jazz, soft rock, and blues standards with a modern sensual feel. Centered around her sultry voice, groove-oriented bass lines, and tight instrumental arrangements, Hayes’ sound has unmistakable cross-generational appeal. A 2023 fellow for the Amplify Project in Washtenaw, she has toured with artists such as Murali Coryell (son of legendary jazz guitarist Larry Coryell), Motor City soul band Laura Rain and the Caesars, and Detroit-born guitarist Quintus McCormick, among many others. She is currently an active member of Detroit Bass Players and has performed at many festivals and venues throughout Southeastern Michigan, Chicago, and Honolulu in a variety of ensembles. Hayes’ modern approach, imbuing lush interpretations of popular covers with contemporary groove, gives her music diverse appeal. Her most recent release is this year’s jazzy, groove-laden single “Led Astray.” Don’t miss her soulful vibes at Top of the Park this summer!
