Darrin James

Saturday, June 22 at 5PM | O&W Grove Stage

Genres: Blues Rock, Alt-Country

Local singer-songwriter and guitarist Darrin James brings his rustic Americana to A2SF this summer. Known for his distinctive gravelly voice, thoughtful lyrics, and skillful guitar playing, James’ music is a blend of traditional fingerpicking, stinging blues, gritty rock, twangy alt-country, and swampy funk. With four albums of original music under his belt, his most recent is this year’s See Right Through. James has a narrative songwriting style that feels literary, portraying vivid characters and their struggles, tragic heroes, and unique takes on classic archetypes like murder ballads and protest songs. His songs often deal with topical themes and social critiques, but his newest album contains some of his most personal work yet, including heart-on-your-sleeve love songs and mournful ballads to lost friends. Kick back, tap your toes, and listen to James share the stories of his characters backed by twangy guitar live on stage at Top of the Park!
