The dynamic duo of Charles & Gwen Scales bring their soulfully jazzy music to Top of the Park this summer. Based out of their hometown of Detroit, they chose to remain in the city over the course of their careers because, as they put it, “We’re family centered, and Detroit is where our family resides.” Whether on stage or in the recording studio, the creative pair always brings their A-game. Between the two of them, their titles include pianist, vocalist, composer, arranger, songwriter, producer, and business owners. With over 20+ years in the music business, they’ve shared the stage with icons such as Patti LaBelle, Phyllis Hyman, and Hamilton Bohannon and performed for presidents, governors, and mayors, in addition to working on musical productions with a diverse array of artists. They also run their own entertainment agency and record label, all while regularly performing live throughout the year.
