The O&W Acoustic Stage
Heartfelt, honest, and searching, this gifted storyteller says she writes songs that do work. A recent Ann Arbor transplant, Annie Bacon creates a lush and earnest Americana folk rock sound reeling between the pure tones of Stevie Nicks and the emotive storytelling arcs of Tracy Chapman. Her folksy Nashville tinged delivery will remind you of Neko Case, while her more playful songs written over two decades in the Bay Area will have you dancing. Bacon’s work has been lauded by Folk Radio UK, No Depression, Earmilk, and more. She composed a Folk Opera which was adapted as a verse puppet play for the Brooklyn Puppets and Poets Festival. In 2016 and 2017, she appeared as a small part in Taylor Mac’s sold-out “24-Decade History of Popular Music” in New York and San Francisco. We welcome this fresh voice to the festival community.
