Singer/songwriter and visual artist Ana Gomulka is the creative force behind ANA, a solo project that pairs music and visual arts to channel intimate yet cosmic creativity, drawing upon powerful feminine energy across generations. Having blazed her musical trail leading the Ypsilanti-based indie soul band Honey Monsoon, Gomulka’s solo venture is strongly influenced by artists like the legendary jazz vocalist Betty Carter and vocalist/guitarist Nai Palm of the jazz/funk band Hiatus Kaiyote. Since 2016, Gomulka has focused on experimenting with technologies and instruments without ever losing sight of the power of her distinctive voice. Often accompanied by a roster of talented Detroit musicians, ANA’s music focuses on themes of freedom, love, and activism through the arts. Her upcoming debut EP Alkhemy is scheduled to arrive this year, so we can look forward to performances of these songs at A2SF this summer, sure to be a wellspring of healing sonic imagination.
