It’s never too late to try something new, and Detroit-based singer-songwriter Al Bettis is proof positive. Inspired to pick up the guitar at the age of 30, he set to work charting a new musical course in his life. The self-trained acoustic guitarist has gained popularity for his smooth vocals and sincere lyrics, crafting soulful tunes that are reminiscent of legends like Al Green and Otis Redding and contemporary artists like Ed Sheeran and Jason Mraz. Bettis’ recent accomplishments include a stint as a special guest on OWN TV’s Love and Marriage Detroit, two performances for TEDx Detroit, and multiple features in the Taylor Guitars magazine Wood & Steel.
