The Appleseed Collective
Friday, June 23 @ 7pm Rackham Stage
Mix the Hot Club of Paris with the sweaty soul of Dixieland, a couple blades of bluegrass, a pinch of ragtime beat, and the swagger of swing and you’ll conjure up Ann Arbor’s The Appleseed Collective. This gypsy-jazz-folk caravan has built momentum since it formed in late 2011, and is poised to become the new sound of string music. Riding the wave of the bluegrass revival beyond newgrass and into a strange new genre-bending territory, they explore the full range of dark and light, old and new, composition and improvisation in a deeply theatrical stage show that transports audiences through time. With stops at The Ark, Summer Camp Music Festival, Hoxeyville, Ann Arbor Folk Festival, and Farm Block Fest behind them, welcome back this talented hometown favorite on the heels of an East Coast tour and the release of 2016’s EP Tour Tapes.
