Friday, June 23 @ 5pm The O&W Acoustic Stage
Ann Arbor’s Mike Vial is an independent singer-songwriter whose acoustic music captures his appreciation for classic songwriters like James Taylor and Cats Stevens and new American voices like Ari Hest, Ben Gibbard, and Ryan Adams. A tenacious songwriter, in 2014 he completed a 52-song challenge to write a song every week. In the spring of 2016, inspired by how Nick Drake made Pink Moon, he took three acoustic guitars and recording gear to a cabin in northern Michigan and created live recordings that became his fourth release, A World That’s Bigger. This year he’s toured the Midwest and East Coast, including dates at The Ark and Arts, Beats, & Eats, and returns to The Grove for an acoustic set.
