May Erlewine and The Motivations

Wednesday, June 28 @ 8:30pm Rackham Stage

“When she starts to sing, there’s no way around it. Welcome to the moment, everyone.” This is a truly original Michigan voice—powerful, delicate, and uplifting. Prolific songwriter and guitarist May Erlewine knows her way around a country song, and has been covered by artists like Sawyer Fredericks on NBC’s The Voice and Greensky Bluegrass. With seven albums and a loaded touring schedule, audiences are drawn into her folksy easiness and poise. Tonight she fronts a seven piece band that will ignite the dancefloor at Top of the Park. You’ll recognize some Michigan musical luminaries onstage with her playing songs from her 2016 EP The Little Things—Phil Barry on guitar, Ross Huff on trumpet, Tim Haldeman on tenor sax, Max Lockwood on bass, Mike Lynch on keys, and Michael Shimmin on the drums.
