La La Land
Sunday, July 2 @ 10pm Rackham Stage
Here’s to the fools who dream.
So Long Sunday closes with the 2017 musical sensation La La Land! Oscar winner Emma Stone is Mia, an aspiring actress, and Ryan Gosling is Sebastian, a dedicated jazz pianist, struggling to make ends meet while pursuing their dreams in a city known for breaking hearts. With modern day Los Angeles as the backdrop, including a much talked about dance sequence that closed down LA freeways, this Golden Globe Best Picture revives the classical musical genre and asks what is more important: a once-in-a-lifetime love or the spotlight.
Closing out our Bicentennial themed season, swoon over “City of Stars,” the song for which University of Michigan alums Benj Pasek and Justin Paul’s won an Academy Award and a Golden Globe.
This film will be Closed Captioned.
